In 1973 San Fernando Valley, 15 year old Gary Valentine gets ready for picture day in his high school restroom as other boys set off a cherry bomb. 25 year old Alana Kane, a photographer's assistant walks down the line of teens who are waiting to take their pictures offering them a comb and mirror. Only Valentine accepts her offer, and proceeds to ask her out to dinner. Kane meets him that evening at a restaurant where he tells her he is an actor and entrepreneur who owns his own business. Kane still lives at home with her parents and sisters.
